Arctic Monkeys - The Car

The Car is the seventh studio album by British rock band Arctic Monkeys, released in October 2022 via Domino Recording Company.

Formed in Sheffield, England, in 2002, the Arctic Monkeys consists of Alex Turner (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, lead guitar), Matt Helders (drums, vocals), Jamie Cook (lead guitar, rhythm guitar, piano) and Nick O'Malley (bass, backing vocals). Former band member Andy Nicholson (bass guitar, backing vocals) left the band in 2006 shortly after their debut album was released.

The band’s seventh studio album, The Car features ten new songs written by Alex Turner, produced by James Ford and recorded at Butley Priory, Suffolk, RAK Studios, London and La Frette, Paris.

Following 2018’s Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino, The Car finds Arctic Monkeys running wild in a new and sumptuous musical landscape and contains some of the richest and most rewarding vocal performances of Alex Turner’s career.

Drummer Matt Helders took the picture on the album cover, which depicts a white car in an empty car park. Its title refers to said cover and the abundance of references to vehicles in the lyrics.

The Car features a wide array of genres that include orchestral rock, lounge pop, baroque pop, and funk, as well as elements of jazz. It also draws influence from soul music, electronic music, glam rock, bossa nova, traditional pop and vintage film soundtracks.

The album has received critical acclaim from music critics and debuted at #2 on the UK albums charts, kept out of the top slot by the new Taylor Swift album released on the same date.

This album is on black vinyl housed in a single pocket sleeve with a spot gloss cover image, printed inner sleeve and download code, pressed in Europe via Domino.
