Toto - Toto IV

Toto IV is the fourth studio album by American rock band Toto, originally released in April 1982 via Columbia Records.

Toto is an American rock band formed in 1977 in Los Angeles. Toto is known for a musical style that combines elements of pop, rock, soul, funk, progressive rock, hard rock, R&B, blues, and jazz.

David Paich and Jeff Porcaro had played together as session musicians on several albums and decided to form a band. David Hungate, Steve Lukather, Steve Porcaro and Bobby Kimball were recruited before their first album release. The band enjoyed great commercial success in the late 1970s and 1980s, beginning with the band's eponymous debut released in 1978. With the release of the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Toto IV (1982), Toto became one of the best-selling music groups of their era. They are best known for the Top 5 hits "Hold the Line", "Rosanna", and "Africa". Several changes to the line-up have been made over the years.

Toto's biggest album success worldwide was their 1982, Grammy-winning, hit-filled, triple platinum, Toto IV.

The album features some of the band's greatest singles including “Africa”, “Rosanna”, “Make Believe” and “I Won't Hold You Back”.

Toto IV received six Grammy Awards in 1983 including Album of the Year, Producer of the Year for the band, and Record of the Year for "Rosanna". It reached #4 on the US Billboard 200, #4 on the UK and #1 on the Australian albums charts.

This would be the final studio album to feature lead vocalist Bobby Kimball until his comeback in 1999 (on the album Mindfields).

This album is a 2020 reissue on black vinyl with a printed inner sleeve, remastered audio and download code, pressed in Europe via Columbia Records.
