The Bombay Royale - Run Kitty Run

Run Kitty Run is the third studio album by Australian disco funk Indian band The Bombay Royale, released in August 2017 via Hopestreet Records.

The Bombay Royale are a world conquering cult band hailing from Melbourne Australia. Their music is a red hot masala of surf, spy, space disco and funk inspired by the sounds and spirit of 1970s & 1980s Bollywood, led by The Skipper and overlaid with the voices of protagonists The Tiger and The Mysterious Lady singing in Hindi, Bengali and English.

Run Kitty Run is a retro Bollywood fuelled rampage through Psyche-Surf, 1980’s Electro-Pop and Desert Rock. The new album is, like its predecessors, conceived as the soundtrack to a lost film. The music conjures into life a devastated futuristic landscape peopled by robotic horsemen, killer satellites and grinning sadhus.

Overlaid with vocals in Hindi, Bengali and English, the resulting soundtrack is one of love and betrayal, hopeless escapes and unlikely salvation. Opening with the pulsating “Ballygunge”, the song sets the scene for the new album with a menagerie of sounds, traditional instrumentation, pulsing percussion and dramatic vocals.

This is one of the most exciting Australian albums to be released this year with its exotic world music sounds creating a Bollywood film soundtrack landscape for your imagination.

Recorded between Hope Street Studios in Brunswick and Soundpark Studios in Northcote, Run Kitty Run was co-produced by Tristan Ludowyk (The Putbacks, The Cactus Channel) and The Skipper aka Andy Williamson.
