Don't You Want Me is a single by British synthpop group The Human League, originally released in November 1981 by Virgin Records as the fourth single from their third studio album Dare.
If you aren't aware of this mega hit, then you probably don't own a radio. Don’t You Want Me is one of those songs taken completely out of context. People focus on the plaintive chorus, thinking it’s a love song, insterad this song is about a guy who meets a cocktail waitress and turns her into a star before their love goes bad. It was inspired by an article in a woman's magazine. As lead singer Phil Oakey says, this is not a love song but about power politics between two people.
The original single's B-side is Seconds an eerie song about the assassination of John F Kennedy. The B-side of this release is an extended dance mix of Don’t You Want Me is also featured on this release.
This 12” single on black vinyl is pressed in the United Kingdom.
