Morningrise is the second studio album by Swedish progressive metal band Opeth, originally released in June 1996 via Candlelight Records in Europe and Century Black in the US.
Morningrise was released on 24 June 1996. The recording sessions took place at Unisound Studio in Örebro during March and April 1996. Once more, the band used producer Dan Swanö.
Morningrise showcases Opeth's signature style, exploring the dynamics between the combination of black metal and death metal vocals, and guitar parts with lighter progressive and acoustic elements.
Morningrise was the last Opeth album produced by Swanö. It was also the last Opeth release with drummer Anders Nordin and bassist Johan De Farfalla.
This double album 2LP record set is a 2021 Record Store Day Limited Edition of 3500 copies on translucent turquoise coloured vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve, pressed in Germany via Candlelight and Spinefarm Records.
