PJ Harvey - Is This Desire?

Is This Desire? is the fourth studio album by English alternative rock musician PJ Harvey, originally released in September 1998 via Island Records.

Produced by PJ Harvey with Flood and Head, and originally released in September 1998, Is This Desire? features the singles “A Perfect Day Elise” and “The Wind”.

Musicians who contributed to the recording sessions included Rob Ellis, John Parish, Mick Harvey, Eric Drew Feldman, Joe Gore and Jeremy Hogg.

The album marked a move away from Harvey's earlier guitar-driven rock style into subtler, quieter, atmospheric soundscapes and mood pieces based around keyboards, bass and electronics.

Upon release, the album was met with critical acclaim and although it did not sell as well as her 1995 commercial breakthrough To Bring You My Love, it did spawn her biggest UK hit with the single "A Perfect Day Elise"; a second single, "The Wind", charted on the UK Top 30

The album received a Grammy Award nomination as Best Alternative Music Performance of 1998.

The 2021 vinyl reissue is faithful to the original recording and package, cutting by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering under the guidance of long-time PJ Harvey producer Head.

This album is a 2021 reissue on 180 gram black vinyl with a printed inner sleeve and download code, pressed in Europe via Island Records.
