Blue Sky Mining is the seventh studio album by Australian rock band Midnight Oil, originally released in February 1990 via Sprint and CBS Records.
Blue Sky Mining followed on from the massive commercial and critical success of Diesel And Dust (1987) and was recorded at Rhinoceros studios in Sydney with producer Warne Livesey.
The album was "more defiant and outspoken" than their previous work; the single "Blue Sky Mine" describes asbestos exposure in the Wittenoom mine tragedy. The second single from Blue Sky Mining was "Forgotten Years".
At the ARIA Music Awards of 1991, Midnight Oil won 'Best Group' and an 'Outstanding Achievement Award', and were awarded 'Best Cover Art', 'Best Video' and 'Album of the Year' for Blue Sky Mining.
This album is a 2017 reissue on black vinyl housed in a single pocket sleeve with a printed inner sleeve and remastered audio, pressed in Australia via Sony Music.
