Roadhawks is the first compilation album by British space rock band Hawkwind, originally released in 1976 via United Artists.
This compilation album covers the bands period from 1970 to 1975 and includes a live recording of “You Shouldn’t’ Do That”, which was taken from the same live performance of the show where most of the album Space Ritual (1973) was recorded.
The tracks on the album are mostly in chronological order from their 1970 self-titled debut album to their 1975 album Warrior on the Edge of Time.
Esoteric Recordings and Atomhenge, the home of the Hawkwind catalogue, are pleased to announce the release of a newly re-mastered edition of the classic Hawkwind compilation album Roadhawks.
Originally released in 1976, the album bought to a close the first era of this legendary band, gathering together highlights from the bands first five albums and featuring the classic singles “Silver Machine” and “Urban Guerilla”.
The significant factor in the creation of Roadhawks was the remixing and editing of some tracks by Dave Brock and the inclusion of a previously unreleased live version of “You Shouldn’t Do That”.
Housed in a striking sleeve inspired by a Barney Bubbles image, Roadhawks was an indispensable album in Hawkwind’s discography of the 1970s.
Long deleted and never re-issued on vinyl since 1984, Roadhawks finally appears once again on Atomhenge. The reissue has been re-mastered from the original United Artists master tapes and has been cut at Abbey Road studios with fully restored original album gatefold artwork and includes the Roadhawks poster originally included with the first pressing of the album.
This album is a 2020 reissue on 180 gram heavyweight vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with remastered audio, poster and poly lined inner sleeve, pressed in the UK via Atomhenge.
