Dope Lemon - Honey Bones

Honey Bones is the debut studio album by Australian folk rock band Dope Lemon, originally released in April 2016 via EMI Records.

Dope Lemon is a side project by Australian singer-songwriter Angus Stone. The album was three years in the making and was recorded with Rohin Brown (of The Walking Who) and Elliot Hammond (of The Delta Riggs) in Stone's own personal recording studio.

The making of Honey Bones became the ultimate reflection of Angus's existence, a world where reality and fantasy, creativity and practicality flow together unobstructed, to form things tangible but that feel like a dream.

The album has been described as having a Bob Dylan vibe to the album, having sidelined his acoustic folk material and gone more electric. At the same time the material is delivered in a laidback and meandering style, similar to Dylan’s approach to vocal delivery and recording.

The song "Uptown Folks" was released as the first song from the album in February 2016, with Triple J describing the track as "laidback coastal rock". The song “Marinade” was released as a single on American iTunes.

This is an interesting album and the vinyl edition has become highly collectable amongst vinyl collectors.

This double album 2LP record set is a limited edition 2023 reissue on translucent yellow coloured vinyl at 45 RPM housed in a gatefold sleeve, pressed in Sweden via BMG.
