Crowded House is the debut studio album by Australian and New Zealand rock band Crowded House, originally released in June 1986 via Capitol Records.

Crowded House are an Australian and New Zealand rock band formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1985 after the break-up of the band Split Enz. The founding members were former Split Enz members, New Zealander Neil Finn (vocalist, guitarist, primary songwriter) and Australian Paul Hester (drums).  The band also included Australian Nick Seymour on bass, and later versions of the band included Tim Finn, and Americans Mark Hart and Matt Sherrod (drums).

After the band had signed a contract with Capitol Records, they travelled to Los Angeles where the album was recorded with producer Mitchell Froom.

The album yielded five hit singles and remains one of their strongest albums, showcasing the songwriting abilities of Neil Finn.

The album was well received by music critics and provided the new band with a great deal of commercial success internationally. The album reached #1 in their Australian home base, #3 in New Zealand, #12 in the US and #99 in the UK. The single Don't Dream It's Over reached #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

There were five singles released from the album: “Mean To Me”, “World Where You Live”, “Now We're Getting Somewhere”, “Don't Dream It's Over” and “Something So Strong”.

A classic album from an amazingly talented band!

This album is a 2025 reissue on black vinyl housed in single pocket sleeve with a printed inner sleeve, pressed in Germany via Capitol Records.
