Prolonging The Magic is the third studio album by American alternative rock band Cake, originally released in October 1998 via Capricorn Records.

The album was recorded after the departure of guitarist Greg Brown and features a rotating lineup of musicians to replace him. One of them, Xan McCurdy, became his full-time replacement.

The most successful single released from the album was “Never There”.

The album is being released for the first time on 180 gram vinyl with remastered audio.

This album is a 2023 reissue on 180 gram black vinyl with a printed inner sleeve and remastered audio, pressed in Europe via Upbeat and RCA Records.
