Polaris - Fatalism

Fatalism is the third studio album by Australian metalcore band Polaris, released in September 2023 via Resist and SharpTone Records.

Equally steeped in angst alongside underlying catharsis, an expanded thematic gaze and heavier sonic terrain, Fatalism organically builds on the bleak imagery and hard-hitting soundscapes permeating Polaris’s ARIA Award-nominated 2020 release The Death of Me.

But rather than wallow or stagnate, Fatalism instead powerfully holds up a proverbial mirror while also galvanizing the Sydney five- piece’s trademark blend of melodic metalcore, lush post rock, electronic flourishes and beyond.

The band produced and recorded the album in Melbourne in 2022 with Lance Prenc engineering and Alpha Wolf guitarist Scottie Simpson on vocal recording duties.

It is the band's final album with lead guitarist Ryan Siew, after his death on 19 June 2023, with his recordings completed beforehand and released posthumously.

This album is a limited edition of 1,000 copies on white and red marbled coloured vinyl housed in a single pocket sleeve with a printed insert, pressed in Australia via Resist Records.
