Free As A Bird is the ninth studio album by English progressive rock band Supertramp, originally released in October 1987 via A&M Records.

Free As A Bird was a turn of direction of sorts, with most of the songs stepping back from their progressive rock sound, employing synthesised dance beats and rhythms.

Free As A Bird was the first Supertramp album to feature contributions from guitarist / vocalist Mark Hart. He would later become a full-fledged member of the group, as would trumpet player Lee Thornburg.

The lead single from the album “I’m Beggin’ You” became a #1 hit on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.

Supertramp are releasing the definitive vinyl pressings of their studio albums. Free As A Bird audio was transferred at Abbey Road Studios by Miles Showell where they cut the 1/2 speed master used to press the vinyl. The LP is pressed on 180g black vinyl.

This album is a 2026 reissue on 180 gram black vinyl housed in a die-cut single pocket sleeve with a printed inner sleeve and half speed mastered audio, pressed in Germany via A&M Records.
