Ringo is the third studio album by British drummer and singer songwriter Ringo Starr, originally released in November 1973 via Apple Records.

Ringo is Ringo Starr’s first rock album following his first solo album of standards Sentimental Journey (1970) and second of country and western songs Beaucoup of Blues (1970).

The album created a huge buzz when it was released, as it was the first album to feature all the former Beatles working together on the same project, although not physically together at the same time. John, Paul and George all contributed songs to the album and played on the album as well.

Starr asked Richard Perry to produce the album and initial sessions took place at Sunset Sound Recorders in Los Angeles and many of Starr’s musical friends joined for the sessions including Marc Bolan, four members of The Band, Billy Preston, Klaus Voormann, Nicky Hopkins, Harry Nilsson and Jim Keltner.

The album opens with a John Lennon penned song “I’m The Greatest”, and features both John and George playing and singing backing vocals on the track. The lead single “Photograph” was written by George and Ringo and features Harrison on guitar and vocals. “Photograph” topped the US Singles charts together with the second single “You’re Sixteen”, which featured Nicky Hopkins on piano and Paul McCartney on mouth sax solo.

“Six O’Clock” was written by Paul and Linda McCartney and recorded in London and the closing track “You and Me Babe” was written by George Harrison and former Beatle roadie Mal Evans, with George playing guitar.

This is Ringo’s best album in the opinion of “The Captain” and was his most successful album commercially. The album peaked at #2 on the US Billboard 200, #2 on the Australian and #7 on the UK Albums charts.

This album is a 2018 reissue on 180 gram black vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with a 20 page booklet and remastered audio, pressed in Europe via Apple and Capitol Records.
