Whispering Jack is the twelfth studio album by Australian singer John Farnham, originally released in October 1986 via RCA Victor Records and Wheatley Records.

Whispering Jack was produced by Ross Fraser and followed the successful 1980 album Uncovered in which Farnham was now moving from a teen pop “idol” to a more contemporary singer under the management of Glen Wheatley.

The songs chosen for this album were an inspired choice, especially the first single released form the album “You’re The Voice” which was written by Andy Qunta (ex-Icehouse), Keith Reid (Procol Harum), Maggie Ryder and Chris Thompson (ex-Manfred Mann's Earth Band). This single became a massive hit in Australia, and an iconic song, topping the Australian singles chart for seven weeks in 1986. The song also became a hit for Farnham in Europe and the UK.

Another inspired choice was “A Touch of Paradise” written by Ross Wilson (Daddy Cool, Mondo Rock), Gulliver Smith and Roger McLachlan, released as the third single from the album.

The album is very 1980s in production style, with David Hirschfelder playing keyboards and arranging the drum machine and percussion parts.

The album became a smash hit in Australia reaching #1 on the Albums charts and going on to become the second biggest selling album in Australia’s history.

Whispering Jack restarted Farnham's career and kept it rolling across two more decades.

Whispering Jack celebrates its 40th Anniversary with a special expanded edition pairing the original album with Whispering Jack Live In Concert, available on vinyl for the first time after its original DVD-only release.

Pressed on black and white vinyl, this Limited Edition is individually numbered 1 to 2,500, with the collector’s edition reimagining the album’s iconic artwork through a striking inverted design, reflecting the monochrome aesthetic that has become synonymous with the release.

A landmark Australian album featuring classics including “You’re The Voice”, “Pressure Down” and “A Touch Of Paradise”, Whispering Jack remains as powerful today as it was in 1986.

This double album 2LP record set is the 40th Anniversary limited edition of 2500 hand numbered copies on white coloured (LP1) and black (LP2) vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves, pressed in Australia via Wheatley Records and Sony Music.
