First Aid Kit - Stay Gold

Stay Gold is the third studio album by Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit, originally released in June 2014 via Columbia Records.

First Aid Kit are a Swedish folk duo formed in 2007 comprising siblings Klara Söderberg (who sings and plays guitar), and her older sister Johanna Söderberg (who sings backing vocals and plays keyboards).

Their 2008 YouTube video cover of the song "Tiger Mountain Peasant Song" by Fleet Foxes spread their name rapidly on the Internet.  After that they have achieved worldwide fame with their harmonious singing and country and folk influenced songs, leading to a nomination for a Brit Awards as one of the five best international groups in 2015.

In 2015 they were accompanied on tours by drummer Scott Simpson and pedal steel guitarist Melvin 'The Tiger' Duffy.

Stay Gold was produced by Mike Mogis, who worked on the band's previous album, The Lion's Roar.

According to an interview with Sveriges Television, the album is more about their own life than their previous ones. "That one has to learn appreciate what is and that all flows, that nothing stays".

Stay Gold introduced new elements to First Aid Kit's music, such as a 13-piece orchestra. Their previous albums had been produced in such a way that would allow the band to perform with three people on stage; however, these limitations have been lifted to give the band a bigger, more fulfilling sound.

The album received acclaim from many music critics and in February 2015, the album won the Swedish Grammis award for 2014 "Album of the Year".

Stay Gold debuted at number one on the Swedish Albums Chart and at number 11 on the UK Albums Chart.  By December 2014, the album had sold nearly 200,000 copies worldwide.

This album is a 2024 limited edition reissue on gold coloured vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with a printed insert, pressed in Europe via Columbia Records.
