The Darkness - Permission To Land

Permission To Land is the debut studio album by British rock band The Darkness, originally released in July 2003 via Atlantic Records.

The Darkness are a British rock band that formed in Lowestoft, England in 2000. The band currently consists of Justin Hawkins (lead vocals, lead guitar), his brother Dan Hawkins (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Frankie Poullain (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Rufus Tiger Taylor (drums, backing vocals).

The band took inspiration for some of their work from the local north Suffolk area surrounding their home town, Lowestoft, including "Black Shuck", based on the legend of a dog which supposedly haunts the church of the nearby village of Blythburgh.

Four singles were released from Permission to Land: "Get Your Hands off My Woman", "Growing on Me", "I Believe in a Thing Called Love", and "Love Is Only a Feeling".

On this debut album, Ed Graham was the drummer in the band.

The album received widespread acclaim by music critics and reached #1 on the UK, #36 on the US Billboard 200 and #17 on the Australian ARIA albums charts.

The album spent four weeks at #1 on the UK albums chart and spent 53 weeks in the Top 100. It achieved the band three BRIT Awards, including British Album Of The Year, British Group and British Rock Act, where they fended off competition from the likes of Blur, Radiohead, Sugababes, Muse, Primal Scream and more.

The record has sold over 1.4 million copies to date.

This album is a 20^th Anniversary limited edition reissue on blue black marbled coloured vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with a printed inner sleeve and poster, pressed in Europe via Atlantic Records.
