A Life Full Of Farewells is the third studio album by Australian indie rock band The Apartments, originally released in 1995 via Hot Records.
A Life Full Of Farewells was the first Apartments album to feature Chris Abrahams (The Necks) on the unforgettable torch song, “She Sings to Forget You”. Chris went on to play on the following two Apartments albums, returning for 2020’s In and Out of the Light.
Speaking about the 2021 vinyl reissue of A Life Full of Farewells, Apartments songwriter Peter Milton Walsh said: “I may not have recognised it at the time, but the people in these songs all seemed to be stepping away from the tornado of their Twenties and wondering ‘What’s next?’
Would they spend the new decade the same way as the last or break with the past? They have to work out what to keep, what to leave behind with plenty of questions about how to live and almost no answers. I have a real affection for people dealing with that kind of change and the stories that flow from times of chaos and chance like that.”
Peter Milton Walsh, bass player Eliot Fish and drummer Mark Dawson worked once more with producer Paul McKercher, whose distinctive sound of The Apartments drift helped created wide acclaim for the album throughout Europe.
Together they created a production for A Life Full of Farewells with strings, piano and trumpet and an ear to classic UK baroque pop recordings by artists like Dusty Springfield and Scott Walker and the widescreen leanings of American songwriter and producer, Jimmy Webb.
Australian vinyl mastering legend, Don Bartley, who mastered the original A Life Full of Farewells CD returned to master for vinyl and remastered for CD for this 2021 release.
This album is being released for the very first time on vinyl.
This album is a 2021 reissue on black vinyl with a printed inner sleeve and remastered audio, pressed in France via Talitres Records.
