Too Fast For Love is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band Mötley Crüe, originally released in November 1981 via Leathür Records.
Mötley Crüe is an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles, Calofornia in 1981. The group was founded by bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee, lead vocalist Vince Neil and guitarist Mick Mars. Mötley Crüe have sold more than 100 million records worldwide.
The members of the band have often been noted for their hedonistic lifestyles and the persona they maintained. Their last studio album, Saints Of Los Angeles, was released in 2008. What was planned to be their final show took place on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2015, and was filmed for a theatrical and Blu-ray release in 2016. The band reunited in 2018 releasing four new songs for a documentary The Dirt and are touring with Def Leppard in 2022.
The first version of the album was released via the band's independent Leathür label with an initial run of 900 copies.
The album was remixed and partially re-recorded following the band signing to major label Elektra Records. This re-release, with a different track listing and slightly different artwork (e.g., red lettering on the cover and a different interior photograph of the band), has become the standard version from which all later reissues derive.
The original mix of the album was included in the 2002 Music To Crash Your Car To: Volume 1 box set compilation.
While the album only reached number 77 on the Billboard 200 album chart in the United States, it would ultimately reach platinum status.
On their debut album, Mötley Crüe essentially comes across as a bash-'em-out bar band, making up in enthusiasm what they lack in technical skill. Yet that's part of the appeal of Too Fast For Love, a chance to hear the band without the glossy production of their later, most popular work, showcasing their down-and-dirty roots.
Mars’ sound is the lynch pin that elevates this album from semi-professional demo with his technique and sound textures best displayed on the ballad, Merry-Go-Round.
The band’s 1970's influences are reflected in the songs “Live Wire”, “Piece Of Your Action”, and “Too Fast For Love”.
Too Fast For Love includes the rock-pop songs, “Public Enemy #”1 which would have been a huge hit if it were released during the band’s, and the closer “On With The Show” which displays the Crüe’s versatility as up-and-coming musicians.
The songs “Stick To Your Guns” and “Live Wire” were released as singles for the album, with “Public Enemy #”1 and “Merry-Go-Round” released as promo videos.
The album cover artwork is a tribute to The Rolling Stones album Sticky Fingers.
This LP record is the first pressing of the band’s 40th Anniversary remaster.
This album is a 2022 reissue on black vinyl with a printed inner sleeve and remastered audio, pressed in the US via BMG.
