Ken Hensley - Proud Words On A Dusty Shelf

Proud Words On A Dusty Shelf is the debut solo studio album by English musician Ken Hensley, originally released in 1973 via Bronze Records in the UK and Mercury Records in the US.

Ken Hensley was a member of British progressive and hard rock band Uriah Heep from 1969 to 1980, and is considered an integral member of their classic line up during this period, playing, writing material and contributing vocals across thirteen studio albums and the classic live album Uriah Heep Live (1973). He wrote or co-wrote the majority of Uriah Heep's songs during this period, including the hit singles "Lady in Black" (on which he sang lead vocals), "Easy Livin'" and "Stealin'", as well as "Look at Yourself", on which he also sang lead vocals, and "Free Me".

His debut solo album Proud Words On A Dusty Shelf featured (ex) Uriah Heep keyboard player Ken Hensley, bassist Gary Thain and drummer Lee Kerslake. It was released when Uriah Heep was at the peak of its rising to fame.

Each side of the LP opens with a wonderful piece of heavy prog rock. It is simultaneously a lost Uriah Heep album and a solo statement by Ken Hensley which offers something a bit different yet totally familiar.

This release contains two bonus tracks: “From Time To Time” (Single Version) and “When Evening Comes” (Single Version).

This album is a limited edition of 1,000 individually numbered copies on 180 gram audiophile gold coloured vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with a printed insert, pressed in Europe via Music On Vinyl.
