Keane - Cause And Effect

Cause And Effect is the fifth studio album by English rock band Keane, released in September 2019 via Island Records.

Keane formed in 1995 in Battle, East Sussex and now comprise Tom Chaplin (lead vocals, guitars), Tim Rice-Oxley (piano, synthesisers, bass guitar, backing vocals), Richard Hughes (drums, percussion, backing vocals), and Jesse Quin (bass guitar, acoustic/electric guitar, backing vocals).

Keane achieved mainstream, international success with the release of their 2004 debut studio album, Hopes And Fears. Topping the UK charts, the album won the 2005 Brit Award for Best British Album and was the second best-selling British album of 2004. It is one of the best-selling albums in UK chart history. Their second album, Under The Iron Sea (2006), topped the UK album charts and debuted at #4 on the US Billboard 200 albums chart.

After going on a hiatus in 2014, the band re-grouped in 2018 to work on new material for the new album Cause And Effect. The birth of this new album came as something of a surprise even to the band. Singer Tom Chaplin had released two successful solo albums but missed his old sparring partner Tim Rice-Oxley.

Written by Keane and produced by David Kosten and the band themselves, the album features eleven new songs recorded in London.

A new single was released in June 2019 “The Way I Feel”, followed by the second single from the new album in August 2019 “Love Too Much”. A third single “Stupid Things” was released in October 2019.

The album was released to generally favourable reviews and reached #2 on the UK, and #25 on the Australian ARIA albums charts.

This album is on 180 gram black vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with a download code, pressed in Europe via Island Records.
