Iron Maiden - Death On The Road

Death On The Road is the eighth live album by British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, originally released in August 2005 via EMI Records.

Iron Maiden formed in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris. Pioneers of the new wave of British heavy metal, Iron Maiden achieved initial success during the early 1980s. After several line-up changes, the band went on to release a series of UK and US platinum and gold albums. Since the return of lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson and guitarist Adrian Smith in 1999, the band have undergone a resurgence in popularity.

Despite little radio or television support. Iron Maiden are considered one of the most successful heavy metal bands in history, selling over 90 million albums worldwide.

Death On The Road was recorded in Dortmund, Germany on 24 November 2003, during the Dance Of Death world tour (2003–2004), with the live set drawing primarily from the band’s ‘80s material, including standards, “Number Of The Beast”, “Run To The Hills”, “Wrathchild”, “The Trooper”, and “Hallowed Be Thy Name”.

These are complemented by selections from more recent albums, and six tracks from the recently released Dance Of Death album including standouts “Paschendale”, “No More Lies” and “Wildest Dreams”.

The album performed well in the charts of several countries, and overall received positive reviews, with heavy metal magazine Kerrang! deeming it "very nearly the ultimate Iron Maiden live album," commenting that the release proves that the band "are as exciting, relevant and unique in 2005 as they were two decades ago”.

This double album 2LP record set is a 2022 repress on black vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve, pressed in Europe via Parlophone Records.
