Along Came A Spider is the eighteenth solo and twenty-fifth overall studio album by American singer-songwriter and musician Alice Cooper, originally released in July 2008 via Steamhammer.
For over five decades, Alice Cooper has been at the forefront of rock music, earning his place as one of the genre's most influential and pioneering figures. Known as the "Godfather of Shock Rock", he redefined what it meant to perform live with his theatrical, larger-than-life shows. With a career marked by boundary-pushing performances, Cooper’s blend of rock, horror, and dark humour has cemented his status as an icon in the music world.
From his early days in the late 1960s, Alice Cooper created a unique brand of rock that combined macabre imagery, provocative themes, and high-energy performances. Hits like "School's Out", "Poison" and "No More Mr. Nice Guy" became anthems for generations, and his influence spans not only hard rock and heavy metal but also popular culture.
Coope's ability to blend glam rock, metal, and theatricality has inspired countless artists, making him a true trailblazer. Beyond his music, Alice Cooper’s persona and live shows became an essential part of his identity. His controversial and shocking performances, often featuring guillotines, snakes, and electric chairs, captivated fans worldwide. As a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Cooper has sold over 15 million records and has remained a key figure in rock, proving that after 55 years, his legend continues to grow.
The story-line for this concept album was first revealed on Cooper's radio show Nights with Alice Cooper. The theme of the album revolves around a "cool, calm and collected" serial killer known as 'Spider'.
The police are baffled by the bodies of Spider's victims, which are cocooned in a silk web, and are each missing a leg. Spider's task is to collect eight legs to complete the construction of his own spider. However, things get complicated when he falls in love with his eighth victim.
At the end of the album an internal voice is heard telling 'Spider' that 'We've been locked away here for twenty-eight years Steven, we couldn't have done all those horrible things' thus revealing Spider as the character Steven from Welcome To My Nightmare.
Along Came A Spider features standout collaborations, including Slash’s electrifying lead guitar on “Vengeance is Mine” and the powerful presence of Ozzy Osbourne as a producer on “Wake the Dead.”
With renowned producers and songwriters Greg Hampton and Danny Saber on board, the album boasts a gritty, raw sound that pushes boundaries and showcases Cooper at his most intense.
This album is a 2026 reissue on compact disc housed in a jewel case with a printed booklet, three bonus tracks and remastered audio, pressed in Germany via earMusic.
