The Wes Montgomery Trio (A Dynamic New Sound: Guitar Organ Drums) is the third album by American jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery, originally released in 1959 via Riverside Records.
Wes Montgomery was an American jazz guitarist who is considered one of the major jazz guitarists, emerging after such seminal figures as Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian. He has influenced other jazz musicians and was known for an unusual technique of plucking the strings with the side of his thumb which granted him a distinctive sound.
The track "Missile Blues" on this album is named after the club Wes Montgomery regularly played at in Indianapolis before his move to New York to record for Riverside Records. It was at this club that he first met producer Orrin Keepnews, who produced this album.
The other musicians rounding out the trio on this album were Melvin Rhyne on organ and Paul Parker on drums.
Check out the tracks: “’Round Midnight”; “Yesterdays”; “Missile Blues”; and “Jingles”.
This LP record is a 2018 reissue on black vinyl in stereo, pressed in the US.
