Live At The Isle Of Wight Festival 1970 is a live album by British progressive rock band The Moody Blues, originally released in July 2008 via Eagle Records.

The Moody Blues first came to prominence playing rhythm and blues music, but their second album, Days of Future Passed, which was released in 1967, was a fusion of rock with classical music and established them as pioneers in the development of art rock and progressive rock. It has been described as a "landmark" and "one of the first successful concept albums". They became known internationally with singles including “Go Now”, “Nights in White Satin”, “Tuesday Afternoon” and “Question”. They have been awarded 18 platinum and gold discs. Their album sales total 70 million.

The classic band line-up settled in late 1966 with Justin Hayward (vocals, guitars), John Lodge (vocals, bass), Graeme Edge (drums, vocals), Ray Thomas (flute, harmonica, percussion, vocals) and Mike Pinder (vocals, keyboards).

The Moody Blues arrived at the third Isle of Wight Festival in August 1970 as one of the world’s top rock bands. Jimi Hendrix, The Who and The Doors were among the other attractions, but the ‘Moodies’ could travel to the island content that their third album in two years, A Question Of Balance (1970), was sitting pretty at the top of the UK chart: predecessors On The Threshold Of A Dream (1969) and To Our Children’s Children’s Children (1969) had reached #1 and #2 respectively, so there was no doubting the quintet’s status among such stellar company.

The Moody Blues took to the stage in front of an audience estimated at over half a million and after one hour of pure energy, The Moody Blues left the audience completely blown away and with a concert none of them will ever forget.

The legendary performance is re-released in 2020 on a strictly limited and numbered violet coloured vinyl 2LP edition, and will only be available for a short period.

The members of the Moody Blues that performed at the Isle of Wight Festival were the classic line-up:

  • Justin Hayward (vocals, guitars, sitar)
  • John Lodge (vocals, bass)
  • Ray Thomas (vocals, flute, tambourine)
  • Graeme Edge (drums)
  • Mike Pinder (vocals, mellotron)

This double album 2LP record set is a 2020 reissue of 1500 individually numbered copies on 180 gram heavyweight violet coloured vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves, pressed in Germany via earMusic.
