Born in the Echoes is the eighth studio album by English electronic duo The Chemical Brothers, released in July 2015 via Virgin EMI Records.
Pioneers of UK big beat along with Fatboy Slim, The Prodigy, Basement Jaxx, and Groove Armada, The Chemical Brothers were formed in 1989 by Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, and have released six number one albums and 13 top 20 singles (including what is arguably the greatest dance track of all time "The Salmon Dance"). The pair began DJ-ing under the name The Dust Brothers (named after the Beastie Boys' production duo) in Manchester Clubs, playing hip hop, techno, and house. After running out of suitable instrumental tracks to use, the pair started making their own using a Hitachi hi-fi system, a computer, a sampler, and a keyboard. The duo's first track, "Song to the Siren", was eventually picked up by London DJ Andrew Weatherall, who made it a permanent fixture in his DJ sets, and signed the pair to his Junior Boy's Own label. In July 1995, The Chemical Brothers released their debut album Exit Planet Dust (the title inspired by their name change) on Freestyle Dust/Junior Boy's Own, entering the UK charts at No. 9 and eventually going on to sell over a million copies worldwide.
Despite a five year wait, Born in the Echoes continues the creative resurgence of The Chemical Brothers' last full-length release, 2010’s Further. Featuring Q-Tip and Ali Love as well as first time collaborators St. Vincent, Cate Le Bon, and Beck, Born in the Echoes is a mixed bag of enormous festival fillers and hard-nosed club bangers, coupled with wondrously bizarre studio experiments and what Pitchfork described as "some of the best pure pop songs Rowlands and Simons have ever made".
Debuting at #1 on the UK Albums Chart, Born in the Echoes marks the duo's sixth chart topper, making them the dance act with the most number-one albums ever in the UK.
Three singles were released from the album: "Sometimes I Feel So Deserted", "Go", and "Under Neon Lights".
This double album 2LP record set is on 180 gram heavyweight vinyl with customer inner sleeves and a 12" x 12" info sheet, pressed in Europe.
