The Amity Affliction - Chasing Ghosts

Chasing Ghosts is the third studio album by Australian hard rock band The Amity Affliction, originally released in September 2012 via UNFD and Roadrunner Records.

The Amity Affliction formed in Queensland in 2003 and are a metalcore hard rock band, renowned for highly personal songs dealing with issues such as anxiety, drug abuse and depression.

Alternative Press named The Amity Affliction "A Band To Watch in 2012" earlier that year, and the band has lived up to that accolade on their third album Chasing Ghosts.

From the first notes of the opening title track it's clear that the band has created an urgent and intense album. The album serves as an inspiring message of hope despite its sometimes serious and dark subject matter, with death and suicide at the centrepiece of the album’ themes.

Commenting on the title track and first single released from the album, frontman Joel Birch stated, "I wrote Chasing Ghosts as a narrative based wholly around someone that has committed suicide and has passed onto the other side. It's a story that I hope people will see for what it is; an example in song of why you should turn to someone close and talk instead of taking that last fatal step towards death prematurely. I just want to reiterate to people that once you're gone, that's it. There's no ghosts. There's no heaven, no hell, just finality and the wreckage left behind in the wake of their decision."

The album became the band’s first to reach #1 on the Australian ARIA albums chart and was certified Gold in 2013.

This album is a 2021 limited edition reissue of 1,000 copies on “lemon” opaque yellow coloured vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with a fold out poster, pressed in Australia via UNFD and Roadrunner Records.
