The Best Years of Our Lives is the third studio by British rock band Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, originally released in March 1975 via Chrysalis Records.

The third album by Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel was recorded with a new line-up of the band with Steve Harley and original drummer Stuart Elliott the two remaining original members. Joining the band were accomplished guitarist Jim Cregan, bassist George Ford and Duncan Mackay on keyboards.

Alan Parsons together with Steve Harley handled production duties and the album was recorded between November and December 1974 at Abbey Road Studios and AIR Studios in London.

The first single released from the album in January 1975 was “Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me)” which reached #1 on the UK, #96 on the US and #17 on the Australian singles charts. The song was written by Harley about his feelings of the break-up of the original line-up of Cockney Rebel.

The second single released from the album was “Mr Raffles” which reached #13 on the UK singles chart.

The album reached #4 on the UK and #62 on the Australian albums charts.

This double album 2LP record set is a 45th Anniversary limited edition reissue on orange and blue coloured vinyl housed in a single pocket sleeve with printed inner sleeves, remastered audio and additional material on LP2, pressed in the UK via Chrysalis Records.
