Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive

I Will Survive is a single by American singer Gloria Gaynor, originally released in October 1978 via Polydor Records.

"I Will Survive" was written by Freddie Perren and Dino Fekaris. The song became a huge hit following its initial release and has remained enduringly popular selling more than 14 million copies worldwide.

It has become one of the most popular disco anthems of all time.

The song's lyrics describe the narrator's discovery of personal strength following an initially devastating breakup. It received heavy airplay in 1979, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and on the UK Singles Chart on consecutive weeks. The song is also frequently recalled as a symbol of female strength and as a gay anthem.

In 2016, the Library of Congress deemed Gaynor's original recording to be "culturally, historically, or artistically significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Recording Registry.

One of the most popular, well-loved disco anthems of all time turns 40 this year in 2018. To celebrate its 40^th Anniversary, this song is being released on a heavyweight vinyl single with the full 12” Disco Versions of both “I Will Survive” and “Substitute” (the original A-side).
