Diamond Life is the debut studio album by British soul and smooth jazz band Sade, originally released in July 1984 via Epic Records.
Diamond Life (1984) is Sade’s debut album, featuring the singles “Your Love Is King”, “When Am I Going To Make A Living”, “Smooth Operator”, and “Hang On To Your Love”.
The album was recorded at Power Plant Studios (England) and was produced by Robin Millar.
Diamond Life received widespread acclaim from music critics and it was also a commercial success, winning the 1985 Brit Award for Best British Album. The album reached number two on the UK Albums Chart and number five on the US Billboard 200, and has been certified multi-platinum in both countries. Diamond Life sold over 10 million copies worldwide, becoming one of the top-selling debut recordings of the era and the best-selling debut album by a British female vocalist, a record that stood for 24 years.
The vinyl audio uses high resolution digital transfers of the stereo master mixes, from the original studio recordings, remastered at half-speed at Abbey Road Studios.
The elaborate, half-speed mastering process has produced exceptionally clean and detailed audio whilst remaining faithful to the band’s intended sound. No additional digital limiting was used in the mastering process, so the album benefits from the advantage of extra clarity and pure fidelity, preserving the dynamic range of the original mixes, presented on pure 180-gram heavyweight black vinyl.
The original album sleeve and packaging elements have been meticulously reproduced in exact detail with authentic paper and printing methods.
This album is a 2024 reissue on 180 gram black vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with remastered audio, pressed in Europe via Epic Records.
