Demolition is the third studio album by American alt-country singer-songwriter Ryan Adams, released in September 2002 via Lost Highway.
Best known for his prolific solo career, Ryan Adams has released fifteen albums, continuing on after moderate success as a former member of alternative country band Whiskeytown. The group disbanded in 2000, as their label Outpost Records closed during a merger leaving the third album Pneumonia in limbo for a year. After Lost Highway signed on Adams (based off highly acclaimed debut solo album Heartbreaker) they also released the material for Pneumonia in May 2001.
Following Heartbreaker, Ryan Adams released the successful album Gold, but in 2002 Adams was blocked by his label from releasing his choice for a follow-up. Adams had previously completed sessions for unreleased solo projects titled 48 Hours, The Pinkhearts, The Swedish Sessions and the Suicide Handbook ( rejected on the grounds that it was "too sad"). His label opted to cherry pick from these four unreleased, but recorded albums for a mix tape style record assembled without his involvement. Demolition, a compilation of tracks from these recording sessions, was released in September 2002.
The title track Nuclear recieved some success as a single in the UK and Ireland, however did not do so well in reaching the international charts. It is a harder track, perhaps hinting at the more rock influences in his musical future, while Tomorrow seems like it should be the final track, with it's reflective softer tone.
Have a listen to a couple of tracks off the album, the single Nuclear, a lighter ballad named You Will Always Be The Same and the beautiful Tomorrow, which balances the title track to create this compilation album.
This limited edition LP record is on black vinyl and was pressed in the USA.
