Gold Afternoon Fix is the is the sixth studio album by Australian rock band The Church, originally released in February 1990 via Mushroom Records in Australia and Arista Records Internationally.

The Church were founded in 1980 in Sydney, Australia and were initially associated with new wave, neo-psychedelia, and indie rock. Their music later came to feature slower tempos and surreal soundscapes reminiscent of dream pop, post-rock and elements of progressive rock. The founding members were Steve Kilbey (from Canberra) on lead vocals and bass guitar, Peter Koppes and Marty Willson-Piper on guitars, and Nick Ward on drums. Ward played only on their debut album, and the band's drummer for the rest of the 1980s was Richard Ploog.

The follow-up to the successful Starfish album was again produced by Waddy Wachtel with the Church at the insistence of the record label, who were hoping to achieve a similar level of commercial success as its predecessor. The band had wanted to work with John Paul Jones but were overruled and the recording sessions were fraught. Drummer Ploog would leave the band after recording this album.

The album did not achieve the same level of commercial success as Starfish and the lead single “Metropolis” was the only one to chart in Australia (#19) and the US (#11).

The album reached #12 on the Australian and #66 on the US Billboard 200 albums charts.

For Record Store Day 2020, this is the first-ever vinyl reissue of the 1990 album from the beloved Australian band on Gold vinyl.

This album is a limited edition of 1750 copies reissued for Record Store Day 2020 on gold coloured vinyl, pressed in Europe via Arista Records and Real Gone Music.
