Dark Matter is the eleventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Randy Newman, released in August 2017 via Nonesuch Records.

Dark Matter is Randy Newman’s first album of new original material since the release of Harps And Angels in 2008.

Dark Matter was recorded in Los Angeles and produced by long-time Newman collaborators Mitchell Froom, Lenny Waronker, and David Boucher.

The album’s nine songs include the 2016 digitally released “Putin,” plus songs about the Kennedy brothers, Sonny Boy Williamson, Science versus Religion, Love and Loss, and more.

Newman plays piano on the album and is joined with a crack set of studio musicians, Matt Chamberlain (drums), David Piltch (bass), Blake Mills (guitar) and Mitchell Froom (additional keyboards).

The album was released to critical acclaim and reached #106 on the US Billboard 200, and #61 on the UK Albums charts.
