Delicate Sound Of Thunder is the first live album by British progressive rock band Pink Floyd, originally released in November 1988 via EMI Records in the UK and Columbia Records in the US.

Pink Floyd, the legendary British band who formed in 1967 had already established themselves as a world class band with a global audience by the time 1987’s album Momentary Lapse Of Reason had arrived. Having survived line-up changes and creative differences, Pink Floyd emerged in the late eighties with guitarist / vocalist David Gilmour at the helm, along with drummer Nick Mason.

A Momentary Lapse Of Reason was an international smash and multi-platinum success that resulted in a two year world tour in support of the new studio album, playing to 4.5 million fans. Richard Wright had re-joined the band for this world tour on keyboards and co-lead vocals with Gilmour on tracks such as “Time” and “Comfortably Numb”.

Filmed at Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum in August 1988 and directed by Wayne Isham, the 2020 release of the Grammy Award nominated Delicate Sound Of Thunder film has been painstakingly restored, remixed and re-edited to form this series of releases.

The set list carefully balances the then-new material and Pink Floyd classics, including songs from The Dark Side Of The Moon, the anthemic title track of Wish You Were Here, The Wall's “Comfortably Numb” and a cathartic “Run Like Hell”.

The album was reissued on Compact Disc in December 2019 in The Later Years 1987 – 2019 box set. The album has been remixed and remastered and includes tracks omitted from the original 1988 release. These additional tracks are "Signs of Life", "A New Machine", "Terminal Frost", "On the Run", "The Great Gig in the Sky", "Welcome to the Machine" and "One Slip".

Some of the songs have had additional elements added or removed to update the mix, such as “Money” which has had the bass solo removed from this updated edition.

The vinyl edition has been expanded onto three discs with updated artwork.

This triple album 3LP record set is the 2020 expanded reissue on 180 gram black vinyl housed in individual picture sleeves within a die-cut slip case with 24 page booklet, pressed in Europe via Pink Floyd Records and Columbia Records.
