Peter Gabriel - Passion

Passion is the eighth studio album (and second soundtrack) by British progressive rock musician Peter Gabriel, originally released in June 1989 via Real World Records.

Passion: Music for The Last Temptation of Christ was released a year after Martin Scorsese s controversy-laden film and tends to be regarded as a work in its own right rather than just being a movie soundtrack.

It features additional music than was included in the film; this extra material was the result of Peter continuing to record and to resolve unfinished ideas.

It is seen as a landmark in the popularisation of world music, and won a Grammy Award for Best New Age Album in 1990

As the soundtrack for the film, Gabriel used the resources of WOMAD, an organization he founded, to bring together musicians from the Middle East, Africa, Europe and South Asia. He worked with them to create music meant to enhance the mood of the film, but he also added a modern ambient musical touch to the original pieces, producing a musical work that has influenced many musicians. Passion introduced many listeners to such artists as Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Youssou N'Dour, L. Shankar, and Baaba Maal.

This double album 2LP record set is a 2022 reissue on 180 gram black vinyl housed in a single pocket sleeve with printed inner sleeves, half speed remastered audio and download code, pressed in Europe via Real World Records.
