Olivia Rodrigo - Sour

Sour is the debut studio album by American singer songwriter Olivia Rodrigo, released in May 2021 via Geffen Records.

Sour was written by Rodrigo and producer Dan Nigro and recorded in isolation during the COVID-19 lockdown. Originally planned as an EP, Sour was expanded to a full-length album following the viral success of Rodrigo's debut single, "Drivers License".

Influenced by Rodrigo's favourite genres and singer-songwriters, Sour is primarily a pop and alt-pop record that spans from energetic pop punk songs to bedroom pop ballads. The album subject matter centres on adolescence, failed romance, and heartache. She said the album explores her perils and discoveries as a 17-year-old, with its title referring to the "sour" emotions young people experience but are often criticized for, such as anger, jealousy, and unhappiness.

The single “Drivers License” has broken a number of records, including becoming the highest stream (non- holiday) track in Spotify’s charting history and becoming the fastest track to reach over 1 billion streams.

Sour has received critical acclaim upon release; reviews regarded it as a solid debut album, underscoring Rodrigo's musical versatility, realistic lyrics, and appeal to Generation Z.

This album is a limited one year anniversary edition on baby pink coloured vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with a printed inner sleeve, pressed in Europe via Geffen Records.
