Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Colorado

Colorado is the 39th studio album by Canadian singer songwriter Neil Young, released in October 2019 via Reprise Records.

Colorado was recorded mostly live in the studio in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and produced by Young and John Hanlon with additional mixing at Shangri-La Studios in Malibu. Mastering by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering, Hollywood.

As with every Young release, the resultant audio fidelity is nothing short of astonishing and sounds as if one is present on the studio floor with the band during the recording.

This studio album is the first with Crazy Horse since 2012, with the first single “Milky Way” being released in August 2019 followed by a second single “Rainbow Of Colors” in September 2019.

The album is very organic and sounds very much like a live recording, kicking off with the harmonica and acoustic guitar driven opener “Think Of Me” followed by the muddy electric guitar driven 13 minute jam of “She Showed Me Love”. The whole album flows and has a raw edginess like Young and his team realise that time is not on their side as they continue to make fresh and vibrant music in their 70s.

Joining Young on the album are Nils Lofgren on guitars and piano, Billy Talbot on bass and Ralph Molina on drums.

The album reached #46 on the US Billboard, #17 on the UK and #19 on the Australian albums charts.

This double album 2LP record set is on 140 gram black vinyl with etching on Side D, housed in a gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves and 7” vinyl single in a picture sleeve, pressed in the US via Reprise Records.
