Heart Like A Wheel is the fifth studio album by American rock, pop, and country artist Linda Ronstadt, originally released in November 1974 via Capitol Records.

In a career that has spanned more than 35 years, Linda Ronstadt has earned 11 Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, an Emmy Award, an ALMA Award, and numerous United States and internationally certified gold, platinum and multiplatinum albums. She has also earned nominations for a Tony Award and a Golden Globe award. Ronstadt was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2014. In total, she has released over 30 studio albums and 15 compilation or greatest hits albums. She has charted 38 Billboard Hot 100 singles, and 36 albums.

This was the last album released by Ronstadt through Capitol Records. The album was produced by Peter Asher and was her first #1 album in the US, making this her commercial breakthrough album.

The album contains a selection of songs written by James Taylor, Anna McGarrigle, Paul Anka, J.D. Souther, Phil Everly, Lowell George, Hank Williams and Clint Ballard Jr.

The second single “You’re No Good” went to the top of the US Hot 100 Singles chart, and the third single, a cover of the Everly Brothers song “When Will I Be Loved” followed at #2 on the US Hot 100 chart.

Buddy Holly & the Crickets song, "It Doesn't Matter Anymore", also appeared on the Pop, Adult Contemporary and Country charts.

Stephen Holden's 1975 review Rolling Stone described the title track as "a masterpiece of writing and arrangement" and lauded the album's expansive repertoire, production and song selection. The album's cover of Hank Williams's "I Can't Help It (If I'm Still in Love With You)", peaked at number 2 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.

Heart Like a Wheel spent 51 weeks on the US Album chart, and in 1976 the album was nominated for 4 Grammy Awards including winning Best Country Vocal Performance Female for "I Can't Help It If I'm Still In Love with You". The entire album was nominated for Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance Female. Producer Peter Asher was among the nominees for Producer of the Year, which is not a recording specific category.

In 2003, Rolling Stone ranked Heart Like a Wheel at #164 on its list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
