King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Chunky Shrapnel

Chunky Shrapnel is the fourth live album by Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, released in April 2020 via Flightless Records.

Formed in Melbourne in 2010, by Ambrose Kenny Smith (vocals, harmonica, synthesizer), Cook Craig (guitar, bass guitar), Eric Moore (drums, percussion, theremin), Joey Walker (guitar, vocals), Lucas Skinner (bass guitar), Michael Cavanaugh (drums), and Stu Mackenzie (vocals, guitar, flute). The band are noted for their energetic live performances and their prolific recording output, releasing thirteen albums since 2012.

The band's early work saw them primarily perform in a style that blended 1960s surf music, garage rock and psychedelic rock, however the band has since added acid rock and krautrock to its repertoire.

A musical road movie dipped in turpentine, Chunky Shrapnel is a point of view/on stage experience from the perspective of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Once a song begins, just like the band, you’re stuck in the adrenaline fuelled quick sand that there is no escape from. The film’s contention is clear from the outset, it’s going to be a “journey” not a “lecture”, an incurved experience rather than a linear one.

This double album 2LP record set is on gold with green splatter vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with spot matte and gloss printing, with rounded printed inner sleeves and OBI strip with gold foil, pressed in Australia via Flightless Records.
