Journey - Greatest Hits

Greatest Hits is the third compilation album by American rock band Journey, originally released in November 1988 via Columbia Records.

Journey formed in 1973 composed of former members of Santana and and Frumious Bandersnatch. The band has gone through several phases and line-up changes with Neal Schon as the only original member of the band still remaining. Journey achieved its strongest commercial success between 1978 and 1987 with Steve Perry as its lead vocalist. During that period the band released a series of hit songs commencing with their 1982 breakthrough “Don’t Stop Believin’” from the US #1 album Escape (1981). Another hit single from that album “Open Arms” has also become one of their most popular songs.

The follow-up album Frontiers (1983) yielded several hits, "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)", "Faithfully", "Send Her My Love" and "After the Fall", all of which reached the Top 40 in the US Singles charts.

After taking a break from touring and dealing with some line-up changes, their 1986 album Raised on Radio produced another four Top 20 singles "Be Good to Yourself", "I'll Be Alright Without You", "Girl Can't Help It" and "Suzanne".

Their Greatest Hits album released in 1988 has gone onto become the band’s best selling album of their career spending 452 weeks on the US Billboard 200 Albums chart and selling more than 17 million copies in the US alone. The album peaked at #10 on the US Billboard 200 and #12 on the UK Albums charts. It continues to sell substantial numbers of copies globally each year.
