Love And Fear is the ninth studio album by Australian rock singer Jimmy Barnes, originally released in May 1999 via Mushroom Records.

As a solo artist, Jimmy Barnes has scored eleven number one records in Australia, as of 2016. Barnes was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and his family immigrated to Adelaide in 1956 when he was four. After Cold Chisel gave their final performance in December 1983 and Barnes immediately launched a solo career, eclipsing Cold Chisel's record sales with six number one solo albums in a row.

Australia loves a balls-out rocker and Jimmy Barnes is a favourite son. Love And Fear rumbles into life with "Love And Hate", summoning grunting howls and dive bombing guitars that reveal Barnes' taste for straight up rock remained undiminished. A handful of big ballads, "By The Grace Of God" and the acoustic "Love Gone Cold" complete the picture of a man clinging to the past. Love And Fear finds Barnes exhibiting his little-seen tender side, but the music is as unreconstructed as ever.

Love And Fear purged a lot of demons that had been plaguing Jimmy for many years. He confronted issues that he had avoided by being on tour and by drinking and taking drugs. Although receiving lukewarm commercial and critical reception at the time of its release, Love And Fear has grown in stature over the ensuing decade and is now one of Jimmy's most highly regarded albums.
