Mars Needs Guitars! is the second studio album by Australian rock band Hoodoo Gurus, originally released in March 1985 via Big Time Records.

The Hoodoo Gurus formed in Sydney in 1981 by the mainstay Dave Faulkner (songwriter, lead singer and guitarist) and later joined by Richard Grossman (bass), Mark Kingsmill (drums), and Brad Shepherd (guitar, vocals, harmonica).

The title Mars Needs Guitars! is a reference to the 1967 science fiction film, Mars Needs Women.

There were four singles released from the album: "Bittersweet" (1985), "Like Wow – Wipeout" (1985), "Death Defying" (1986) and "Poison Pen" (1986).

Mars Needs Guitars! Reached #140 on the American Billboard 200 albums chart in 1986, #5 on the Australian albums charts.

Dave Faulkner commented about the album: “…when we commenced the sessions for Mars Needs Guitars! we had a brand new drummer, Mark Kingsmill who altered our lives forever with his distinctive explosive style….”.

This album is a 2018 reissue on green coloured vinyl with a printed insert and remastered audio, pressed in Australia via Big Time Records.
