Ghost - Meliora

Meliora is the third studio album by Swedish heavy metal band Ghost, released in 2015 via Spinefarm Records.

Formed in 2008 in Linköping, Ghost (also known as Ghost B.C. in the US) began playing underground shows and sharpening their sound, and through their occult ritual-styled performances coupled with strict vows of anonymity, (obscuring themselves under monks' cowls) their popularity with metal fans flourished, and soon spread to the rest of the world via their debut album, Opus Eponymous, defying expectations with a surprisingly welcoming melodic sound, weaving together '60s psychedelia, '70s doom, and '80s new wave of British heavy metal.

Recorded at EastWest Studios, Meliora was produced by Klas Åhlund (who co-wrote the Kylie Minogue hit "Speakerphone") and mixed by Andy Wallace (Slayer, Rob Zombie, Sepultura). The album puts a greater emphasis guitar work than 2013's Infestissumam, marking a return to a heavier direction as the band felt the guitar "took a backseat" on the prvious album.

The album was well recieved by critics, making it onto Classic Rock's 2015 50 Best Albums Of The Year at number 13, writing "Meliora is their most coherent album yet. The 70's art/occult rock influences persist, but the stunning Satanic hymn He Is, is proof that there's real artistry beneath the Swedes' knowing myth-making".

Meliora reached No. 1 on the Finnish and Swedish charts, and reached No. 8 on the US Billboard 200, going on to earn Gold Certification in Sweden.

Four singles were released from the album: "Cirice", "From the Pinnacle to the Pit", "Majesty", and "He Is".

This LP record is on black vinyl with a printed inner sleeve and 16 page booklet, pressed in Europe.
