Faith No More - Sol Invictus

Sol Invictus is the seventh studio album by American rock band Faith No More, originally released in May 2015 via Reclamation! Recordings.

Faith No More is an American rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1979. Bassist Billy Gould, keyboardist Roddy Bottum and drummer Mike Bordin are the longest remaining members of the band, having been involved with Faith No More since its inception. The band underwent several line-up changes early in their career, along with some major changes later on. The current line-up of Faith No More consists of Gould, Bottum, Bordin, guitarist Jon Hudson, and vocalist Mike Patton.

After releasing six albums, Faith No More officially announced their breakup in April 1998. They have since reunited, embarked on The Second Coming Tour from 2009 to 2012, and released their seventh studio album, Sol Invictus, in May 2015.

On Sol Invictus, the band dropped the slap bass and rap techniques of prior releases, and instead utilised middle-range vocals, and experimentation with various musical genres including post-punk, heavy metal, ska, and even dirges (sombre songs expressing mourning or grief).

The album received favourable reviews, and has been the last studio album released by the band to date.
