Everything But The Girl - Amplified Heart

Amplified Heart is the eighth studio album by British musical duo Everything But The Girl, originally released in June 1994 via Blanco y Negro Records and Atlantic Records in the US.

This album broke the band into mainstream audiences on the back of the dance Todd Terry remix of “Missing”, which had been released as the second single from the album in August 1994. The success of this song marked a change in musical direction for the band from folk indie pop to a more electronic dance focus on future releases.

The rest of the album has a more acoustic feel to it and joining Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn were Dave Mattacks (Fairport Convention) on drums and Danny Thompson (Pentangle) on upright bass. Richard Thompson is featured on lead guitar on “25^th December” and Kate St John (The Dream Academy) features on cor anglais on “Two Star”.

The album reached #20 on the UK, #46 on the US Billboard 200 and #60 on the Australian Albums charts.

This album is the 25^th Anniversary limited edition reissue on high fidelity black vinyl with a printed insert, featuring half speed mastered audio, pressed in the UK via Buzzin’ Fly Records.
