Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is the seventh studio album by British musician Elton John, originally released in October 1973 via DJM Records in the UK and MCA Records in the US.
It is regarded as one of his best and most popular albums of all time and was his first double studio album.
Recorded at the Château d'Hérouville in France after problems recording at the intended location of Jamaica, it contains the hits "Candle in the Wind", "Bennie and the Jets", "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting".
Originally intended as a regular single album, the experience in transferring from Jamaica to the château proved to be conducive to producing such quality material, that it was decided to release the album as a double.
The album was recorded with his touring band members, Davey Johnstone on guitars, Dee Murray on bass and Nigel Olsson on drums.
In 2003, the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
The album was ranked No. 91 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, and No. 59 in Channel 4's 2009 list of 100 Greatest Albums.
The album has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide.
Here is the official video released for "Bennie And The Jets".
This double album 2LP record set is a reissue on 180 gram audiophile vinyl housed in a tri-fold sleeve with download code, and featuring the 2014 remastered audio, pressed in Euorpe via Mercury Records.
