21 At 33 is the 14th studio album by British singer-songwriter Elton John, originally released in May 1980 via Rocket Records in the UK and MCA Records in the US.

The album sees the return of his long-time songwriting partner Bernie Taupin to the fold, contributing lyrics to three tracks on the album and most notably the song written especially about their song-writing process Two Rooms At The End Of The World.

The album was recorded in France and Los Angeles between August 1979 and March 1980 and two of his original Elton John Band members Nigel Olsson and Dee Murray are featured on the album. James Newton Howard who was a member of the Elton John Band for the Rock of the Westies and Blue Moves albums also played keyboards on the album. John and his sound engineer Clive Fanks co-produced the album.

Other musicians featured on the album included Steve Lukather and David Paich (Toto) and Don Henley, Timothy B. Schmit and Glen Frey (Eagles) and Bruce Johnston (Beach Boys).

Three songs were written with Gary Osbourne, who had provided the lyrics for the 1978 A Single Man album, including the lead single Little Jeannie, which reached #3 on the US Singles chart and #9 in Australia.

Two songs were writen with Tom Robinson, the lead singer-songwriter from the Tom Robinson Band - Sartorial Eloquence and Never Gonna Fall In Love Again

Also featured on the album is a song written with fellow Rocket Records label artist Judie Tzuke called Give Me The Love, which features a wonderful string arrangement by David Foster.

The album title is derived from this record being Elton's 21st album release, counting studio, live, compilation, soundtrack and the Thom Bell Sessions EP by 1980 when he had turned 33 years of age.

"The Captain's" favourite songs on this album are Chasing The Crown, Little Jeannie, Sartorial Eloquence, Two Rooms At The End of The World, White Lady White Powder, Dear God and Give Me The Love.

The album peaked at #13 on the US Billboard 200 Albums charts, #12 on the UK and #7 on the Australian Albums charts.

This very limited LP is a new vinyl record with an inner sleeve and printed insert with lyrics and credits, pressed in Canada via MCA Records.
