Carpenters - Horizon

Horizon is the sixth studio album by American pop duo Carpenters, originally released in June 1975 via A&M Records.

Horizon was the sixth consecutive platinum-certified album by the musical duo, Carpenters. The album was one of the first recorded at A&M Studios using then state of the art recording technology; a 24 track recorder with Dolby and recorded at 30 inches per second. This album saw the band experimenting with new sounds, techniques and effects.

The album's first single, "Please Mr. Postman", became the album's biggest hit single and also the Carpenters' biggest hit single worldwide. It reached #1 in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa, and #2 in the United Kingdom and Ireland. This song featured Karen Carpenter on drums and Tony Peluso on the guitar solo.

The second single “Only Yesterday” was also a worldwide hit reaching Top 10 in many countries. The band covered a Neil Sedaka song, “Solitaire” that was released as the third single from the album.

Richard Carpenter’s song-writing partner John Bettis has said that he views the song “(I'm Caught Between) Goodbye And I Love You” as the best song that he and Richard had written up to that point.

Horizon did not perform as well as its predecessors on the US Billboard 200 Albums chart, only reaching #13. However, in the UK the album was their first #1 hit and also hit # in Japan and #21 in Australia.
