Her Greatest Hits: Songs Of Long Ago is a compilation album by American singer-songwriter Carole King, originally released in 1978 via Ode Records.
Carole King is the most successful female songwriter of the 20th century, having written or co-written 118 pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100 between 1955 and 1999. She also wrote 61 hits that charted in the UK, making her the most successful female songwriter on the UK singles charts between 1952 and 2005. Carole King has won four Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for her songwriting. She is the recipient of the 2013 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, the first woman to be honored this way.
This album is a succinct summation of Carole King's eight prolific years at Ode Records between 1971 and 1976. The remastering improves the listening pleasure inherent in what is here - the material off of Tapestry, Music, Rhymes & Reasons, and the others is now very robust, with vivid instrumentation and a close, rich profile of King's voice. The selection of King's work is still only an inch deep, given the quality of work produced at the time, but it's a more rewarding inch.
Four of the songs had appeared on her second album Tapestry, one of the most successful albums in the history of popular music. "Brother, Brother", a song of her third album Music, is the only one chosen for the compilation LP that was never released as a single.
The album reached $47 on the US Billboard 200 Albums chart and was certified platfinum.
Check out the tracks: “I Feel The Earth Move”; “It’s Too Late” and “Smackwater Jack”.
This LP record is a Music On Vinyl reissue on 180 gram audiophile vinyl, pressed in Europe.
