Billy Idol - Billy Idol

Billy Idol is the debut solo studio album by British punk rock vocalist Billy Idol, originally released in July 1982 via Chrysalis Records.

Billy Idol first achieved commercial success as a member of punk rock band Generation X. He departed the band to pursue a solo career in the US in 1981 in collaboration with guitarist Steve Stevens.

His 1982 debut album Billy Idol, was produced by Keith Forsey, and featured rock and new wave influences. The album spawned two successful singles combined with music videos, propelling him up the music charts. The singles were “Hot In The City” and “White Wedding”.

The album reached #45 on the US Billboard 200, #66 on the Australian and #5 on the New Zealand Albums charts.

The album also received very positive reviews from music critics when it was released and provided him a solid platform in which he built a very successful solo music career.
